Benji Filmer is an independent artist, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and audio engineer based in Birmingham, UK. Blending elements of contemporary folk, indie, ambient, and pop, his work is characterised by emotive songwriting, detailed production, and immersive sonic landscapes that balance intimacy with cinematic depth.Alongside his solo work, Benji operates as a freelance producer, mixing engineer, and mastering engineer, collaborating with a diverse range of artists across the UK to bring authenticity and clarity to their music. Additionally, he serves as an audio engineer at Birmingham Podcast Studios / 11C Media, delivering high-spec audio post-production, Voice-Over, ADR, and podcast sessions for major clients. His studio expertise spans advanced sound design, up-mixing to Dolby Atmos, and mastering across digital and analog formats.As a recording artist, Benji released his deeply personal debut album, "Before, After", which explores themes of home, change, identity, and the transition from Norfolk to university life in Birmingham. His music has garnered continued support from BBC Introducing, including multiple radio plays and a live session performance at BBC Radio Suffolk and Norfolk, alongside features from respected independent folk and acoustic curators.A seasoned live and session musician, Benji regularly performs across the UK. His live credits include performances at major UK events such as Kendal Calling, Fairport’s Cropredy Convention, and the New Forest Folk Festival, as well as pit-band engagements across the West Midlands. He is also a founding member of the folk band Crossroads, where he plays guitar and contributes to original arrangements of traditional folk tunes.Originally from Norfolk, Benji moved to Birmingham to pursue his BMus (Hons) in Music Technology at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Alongside his creative and studio practice, he is actively involved in music education, facilitating studio recording sessions and leading creative music workshops for young people and within youth mental health settings.
